The Blue Bank - an innovative social project

23. 05 2017

The Blue Bank is a social project in Þingeyri in the Westfjords of Iceland.

The Blue Bank aims to create a multi-purpose site that combines public and private activities in one, centrally located and accessible site.
The goal is to provide a platform for social and economic innovation. A space that will make public services more accessible and improve communication between residents and the local government.

There will be several activities taking place in this space.

The original use as a banking service will be continued and other services will be added as well as a local contact point for Ísafjarðarbær.

Programs and lessons in specific topics will be organised for certain target groups.
Office spaces in the form of an open office will be available to rent.
Community based events to learn from others and collaborate.
Library 2020, a modern version of a library, a place where knowledge is shared.

An introductory meeting was held at Innovation Center Iceland in May 2017.

BluebankÞórdís Sif Sigurðardóttir, Gísli Halldór Halldórsson, ormer president of Iceland Mr. Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson and Þorsteinn Sigfússon, CEO of Innovation Center Iceland.
